At 30 to 35 lbs this is at the heavier end for a barrel saddle. That gives a solid, planted feel rather than a featherweight one, which some riders prefer, but if your horse is on the small side or you run hard every weekend, look at a lighter option.

The adjustable tree is worth having on a barrel horse: they change shape a lot between the start and the peak of a season.
