As a rancher fresh out of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, I was initially seeking a brief career detour before returning to assist my family with our New Mexico ranch. Fate had other plans, presenting me with an unexpected opportunity to acquire a small feed store, previously known as Foust Feed & Supply, from Tommy Foust. This humble establishment, teeming with feed and hay, brimmed with activity, and nestled in the heart of Cody, was the very cornerstone upon which our present enterprise stands. It was here that we honed the art of retail, embraced long hours, cultivated growth, and most importantly, learned the invaluable art of attentive customer care.

Despite misconceptions of us being a franchise, our sole location remains in Cody, Wyoming. This distinction is meaningful, as our geographical surroundings have significantly influenced our identity. The vast expanse of the Wyoming wilderness, renowned for its historic ranches, the revered American Quarter Horse, diligent cattlemen, sprawling feedyards, and dairies, has molded our work ethic, our respect for others, our generosity, and our unwavering commitment to aiding those in need. Our roots are embedded here, and we hold ourselves accountable to the values this landscape instilled in us.

A decade later, in 1999, marked a significant milestone as we unveiled a new establishment in South Cody. The horsesaddledeals.com domain was registered, and our inaugural website saw the light of day. Admittedly, horsesaddledeals.com was reminiscent of the internet’s early days, characterized by sluggish performance, unpolished design, and compatibility with dial-up connections and AOL browsers. Despite these humble beginnings, orders began trickling in. Riches did not instantly shower upon us.

The early 2000s witnessed the expansion of our services with the addition of a trailer service center to our Bell Street location. Trailer sales and trailer parts soon became integral components of our offerings. We proudly bear the badge of being one of the pioneering Platinum Coach dealers in the United States, a distinction we continue to uphold two decades later. We channeled our collective efforts into mastering the intricacies of the trailer industry, marrying this expertise with our long-standing commitment to exceptional customer service. Gradually, saddles, trailers, tack, and equine supplies eclipsed our feed business.

The ensuing 15 years have been a rollercoaster of triumphs and tribulations, for, as they say, adversity forges resilience. We navigated the tumultuous waters of the 2008-2010 recession, emerging, albeit barely, on the other side. In 2015, our journey intersected with that of longtime family friends, Pete and Becca White, who joined the Harris family as co-owners of HorseSaddleDeals.com. Their entry infused fresh vitality, innovative ideas, and business acumen acquired through years in Ford and Dodge dealerships within the Wyoming region.

By the year 2020, our mail-order and trailer businesses had burgeoned to such an extent that a pivotal transformation was imperative. We made the strategic decision to divest our feed and hay enterprise to a local establishment in Cody, Robinson’s Family Feed, thereby creating additional space for our expanding operations. Former feed warehouses underwent a makeover, emerging as efficient shipping hubs, while our saddle and tack inventory experienced significant expansion. We also inaugurated a state-of-the-art leather workshop, and our hay barn was reimagined into a comprehensive service center catering to trailers, coaches, RVs, and trucks.

Thus, I’ve offered you a succinct chronicle of Horse Saddle Deals shop’s remarkable journey to its present stature. This narrative addresses the body, so to speak. However, painting a vivid portrait of our enterprise’s heart and soul, our remarkable team, is a far more intricate task. My words may fall short in doing justice to our dedicated personnel and the depth of care they have poured into shaping our business. This essence must be experienced firsthand. Our team comprises over 30 dedicated individuals, distributed across various facets of our operation, including trailer sales, trailer service, marketing, accounting, retail, customer service, saddle sales, and management.
