Wintec Saddles for Sale

We carry around fifty-five Wintec products, all in stock, and about forty per cent are used. Prices run from roughly $230 to $1,706, with the middle of the range near $800 — and more than three quarters sit under $1,000, which is the point of Wintec.

The adjustable gullet is the reason to buy one. Most saddles commit you to one tree width and one horse. A Wintec gullet plate can be swapped for a narrower or wider one, so the saddle can be refitted as a horse changes shape through a season, or moved to the next horse. For one rider with more than one horse, or a growing young horse, that is the whole case.

Wintec is also synthetic rather than leather, so it is lighter, washable and does not need feeding. Our stock is mostly English — 41 of them — split across jumping and dressage, with pony, western and Australian models too. Names that come through include the Isabell and Isabell Icon dressage saddles, the 2000 WIDE with HART, the 500 Jump and 500 Close Contact, Pro Dressage, Pro Endurance and Pro Stock, plus junior and children’s sizes.

Before you buy a wintec saddles

The tree has to match your horse, not just your seat size. Those are two separate measurements and both matter. Send us a wither tracing and photographs of your horse’s back and we will tell you honestly whether a saddle on this page suits it.

On a used saddle, ask about the tree first. It is the one part that cannot be put right afterwards. Surface marks on leather are normal and often why the price is good; dry or cracked leather at the billets and stirrup leathers is not, because those carry load.

We would rather answer a question before you order than take a return afterwards.

Yes, and this is the brand’s defining feature. The gullet plate can be changed for a narrower or wider one, so the same saddle can be refitted as your horse changes shape or moved to a different horse. The gullet is adjustable; the panels and your horse’s back still have to suit each other, so send us a wither tracing if you are unsure.

For a lot of riders, yes. A synthetic saddle is lighter to lift, can be hosed down rather than fed and oiled, and does not mind rain. What you give up is the feel and the resale value of good leather. For a child, a second saddle, or riding in bad weather, the trade is usually worth it.

Yes, around two dozen. Because they are synthetic they tend to come through in better condition than used leather at the same age.
