A new HR Saddlery trail saddle in dark chocolate, model 1-1134, with a 14.5 inch seat, at 28 to 32 lbs on a regular tree.

Note the regular tree, because it is the deciding detail. A regular tree suits an average-built horse with normal withers — the quarter horse, the appendix, the ordinary riding horse. If your horse is wide and flat-backed, or narrow and sharp-withered, look at a different tree rather than trying to pad this one to fit.

For trail riding, 28 to 32 lbs is a sensible working weight: substantial enough to sit steady over rough ground, light enough to lift onto a 15-hand horse without a struggle.

New, in dark brown.
