Before we list a used saddle · inspected and repaired
  • Every saddle is inspected - tree, billets, rigging, stitching and flocking - and repaired before it goes on sale.
  • Gullet width and bar type are recorded so you can check the fit.
  • Send us photos or a wither tracing and we will tell you honestly whether it suits your horse.

The Ovation Palermo II is a dressage saddle in 16.5", 17" and 17.5" seats on a regular tree, weighing 10 lbs.

Two features decide whether this is the right buy. The XCH interchangeable gullet system means the gullet plate can be swapped as your horse changes shape, or when the saddle moves to the next horse — a fixed-tree dressage saddle is a commitment to one back. And the tree is carbon fibre, which is why it weighs 10 lbs when most leather dressage saddles are 15 to 18.

The panels are Bayflex memory foam rather than traditional flocking. Foam holds its shape and needs no maintenance; flocking can be adjusted by a saddler. Which you prefer depends on whether you would rather never think about it or be able to tune it.

Triangle knee rolls and thigh blocks, in black or brown.

Best for: dressage riders who want a light saddle and the option to refit it to another horse.
Not for: anyone who wants panels a saddler can reflock.
