14-day trial · ride before you commit
  • Two separate routes, and this is the one to pick if you want to ride the saddle: try it for 14 days without paying the full amount. A straight purchase can only be sent back unused.
  • The trial carries a shipping and return fee, shown as an option at checkout.
  • Ride it on your own horse and send it back if the fit is wrong.
30-day returns · $7.95 label fee
  • You have 30 days from purchase to return an item.
  • It must be unused, in the same condition you received it, and in its original packaging. If you want to ride it first, take the 14-day trial above instead.
  • Return shipping is paid by the customer: $7.95 for the FedEx return label, deducted from your refund. Attach it and include the original invoice.

Before we list a used saddle · inspected and repaired
  • Every saddle is inspected - tree, billets, rigging, stitching and flocking - and repaired before it goes on sale.
  • Gullet width and bar type are recorded so you can check the fit.
  • Send us photos or a wither tracing and we will tell you honestly whether it suits your horse.

A Crosby dressage saddle in 16" to 18" seats, 15 to 18 lbs, in black or brown, handcrafted from harness leather.

Harness leather is the distinguishing thing here. It is a firmer, heavier hide than the calf-lined leather on a modern competition saddle. It takes longer to break in and it lasts longer once you have. If you want a saddle that is soft on day one, this is not it; if you want one that outlives two others, it is.

Classic deep dressage seat with traditional flocked panels, which can be reflocked by a saddler as your horse changes shape — a real advantage over foam panels. The tree is adjustable.

We hold three similar Crosby dressage saddles: this one, an adjustable knee block version and an external knee block version. The difference is the blocks, explained on each.

Best for: dressage riders who want traditional leather and reflockable panels.
Not for: anyone wanting a soft, ready-to-ride saddle straight out of the box.
