A 16 inch reining saddle, custom made by Pards for their Versatility collection, with a smooth leather padded seat.
What makes it a reining saddle is the seat pocket and the fender swing. The pocket holds you in place through a sliding stop, when the horse drops behind and you need to stay sitting rather than get pitched forward. The generous fender swing lets your leg hang long and move freely, which is how a reiner sits — legs long, weight down, quiet.
It is built on QH bars with a gullet measuring approximately 6½ inches, which fits the average quarter horse build — the breed most reining horses come from. If your horse is mutton-withered or very wide, check that measurement first.
The smooth padded leather seat is comfortable for long schooling sessions, though it is less grippy than a rough-out if you want to be held in place.
